My family decided this year to hold an Oktoberfest party, with German food and beers. It was a potluck so everyone brought a dish. We received everyone’s dish name beforehand so I could make menu cards. I printed each dish name onto paper and glued each name first on to the checkered paper and then I glued that onto plain blue paper that was folded in half.
I also had a “wall” of hanging banner decorations. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the Oktoberfest banner that uses a font called Autobahn. I found Pretzel clip art online and printed and cut out all of the pretzels for that banner. I also bought a Bavarian flag banner from amazon to include on the wall.
Everyone’s food was delicious! We have bratwurst, kielbasa, sauerkraut, pierogies, haluski, potato pancake casserole, German potato salad, three bean salad, pretzels & beer cheese, German chocolate cake, and apple kuchen cake.
For beer we had Heineken, Becks, & Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest. Charlie, my cat, is our official mascot for every party we host (he was not happy). We ended the night with s’mores by the fire and had such an amazing time with family and friends.
